What we do

Health checks

  • Details: Free general health checks, for people between the ages of 40 and 74.

Why you might need a health check

If you’re between the ages of 40 and 74, you become more at risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, diabetes, or dementia. So, it’s a good idea to get your health checked.

How we do a health check

One of our workers will ask you a series of questions to see if you need a full NHS health check or a mini one.

If you don't qualify for a full check, we can give you a health MoT, which is almost the same and only excludes a cholesterol check.

For a health check, we will ask you your age, ethnicity, gender, a little about your family medical history and whether you drink, smoke or take exercise.

We will check your BMI (Body Mass Index), blood pressure, and cholesterol if it's a full check.

Once we have done the check, we’ll talk to you about your results.

We’ll give you information and advice about ways you can improve your health. Or, we might refer you to another service, such as for pre-diabetes, dementia-awareness, weight management, stopping smoking, alcohol intervention, and physical activity.

The health check is sent to you GP practice/doctors. We might suggest during the health check, that you book an appointment with your doctor to discuss any health issue that has been raised during the health check.

Little World Nursery

  • Details: We provide a small, low-cost and non-profit community nursery on site at our WMO centre.

Little World Nursery has 25 places daily for young children from birth to five years old, offering full or part-time care, throughout the year, excluding Christmas and bank holidays.

Our sessions run from Monday to Friday, and offer either half days from 0800-1300 or 1300-1800, or a full day from 0800-1800.

Our aim is to recognise and remove barriers that prevent children from reaching their full potential in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and by doing so, help their families to also reach their full potential.

Little World is an OFSTED-registered nursery, run by a team of qualified Early Years nursery nurses. As required by OFSTED, activities are designed to stimulate and support children's development. We develop them personally, socially, emotionally and physically. We also develop their communication and language, their understanding of the world, their literacy and maths and expressive art and design. We also work with external local agencies, such as getting advice from health professionals, to support every child and family at our nursery.

Places can be funded through government schemes for working and non-working parents who meet certain criteria. Find out if you're eligible for a government childcare scheme.

We offer the possibility of extending term-time government funding to all year round for those families who need that extra support.

If you'd rather chat to us about government funding and how it works, then just pop by.

Age Half Day Full day
under 2 £32 £45
2+ £30 £44
3+ £30 £43

A place at the nursery includes breakfast, lunch and either a snack or hot meal depending on whether a child is staying for the whole, or half a day. The menu changes every three weeks. The food is supplied by Nursery Catering Company, which specialises in catering for young children and can meet dietary requirements.

Children regularly get involved in WMO's multicultural events, participating with people from all ethnic backgrounds.
